A former Portuguese colony, Cape Verde is a group of
ten islands 600km off the coast of Senegal, West Africa. It achieved
its National Independence in 1975 and is now officially known as the
Republic of Cape Verde. Most would argue that Cape Verde’s isolation
was a blessing, which years later has left these islands totally unspoiled
and undiscovered.
With one of the world’s most stable climates,
Cape Verde offers a unique blend of European and African culture, luxury
accommodation, more direct routes from Europe, exceptionally beautiful
beaches and a people like no other.
Since 1985 successive governments have recognised a strong tourist industry
and have put in place policies to improve infrastructure, service, tourism
and investment throughout the islands.
With the local slogan of ‘No Stress’ as
a welcome to the Islands, Cape Verde is fast becoming ‘The’ exclusive
tropical destination for Europeans. The tropical climate, low humidity,
cooling breeze, year round sunshine and extremely low risk of hurricanes
are all fast pushing Cape Verde to the top of the list as one of the
worlds most sought after destinations.
